Data & Sources
05Where does BallotView get its data from?+
BallotView collects information from publicly available sources including:
- Election Commission of India (ECI) official disclosures and publications
- Affidavits filed by candidates
- News reports and reputed news outlets
- Political party announcements and press releases
- Candidate press releases
- Government websites and state election portals
- Public websites and documents
06How often is the information updated?+
The platform is updated regularly as new information becomes available from verified public sources. Data is updated continuously during active election periods; during off-seasons, updates happen when official disclosures are made or significant news is published about candidates and constituencies.
07How accurate is the information on BallotView?+
We make every effort to ensure accuracy by sourcing from credible, official, or reputable public records. BallotView makes every effort to provide accurate and up-to-date information. However, since the platform aggregates data from multiple public sources, source data may itself contain inaccuracies or be updated after we publish — there may occasionally be errors or delays in updates.
If you spot something incorrect, please report it — we will investigate and correct it promptly.
08What should I do if I find incorrect information?+
If you find any incorrect or outdated information, you can contact the BallotView team through the website’s contact page. The information will be reviewed and corrected if necessary.
09Can I download or use BallotView's data?+
BallotView is a read-only information platform. Bulk data downloads are not available through the interface. If you are a researcher, journalist, or developer with a specific use case, reach out to us — we're open to discussing data partnerships.
